Demolition -The act or process of wrecking or destroying.
Demolition has traditionally been the method by which homeowners and contractors removed houses and buildings.
Deconstruction -To save from destruction or waste and put to further use.
Deconstruction involves carefully dismantling a building and removing the parts that can be re-used. Materials coming from deconstructions often includes, but is not limited to, lumber, doors, windows, toilets, electric service boxes, insulation, light fixtures, cabinetry, hardwood flooring and more.
Salvage -To save from loss or destruction.
Salvaging or soft stripping is an important part of the deconstruction process and crucial in assuring that materials can be reused once they are removed.

Environmental Benefits
Between 65 percent and 85 percent of construction debris winds up in landfills. The EPA estimates that more than 136 million tons of construction and demolition debris is generated each year. While much of that is used material ripped from existing structures, it also includes new items hauled away from construction sites.
Economic Benefits
The economic benefits are realized through tax deductions to the donor and delivery of affordable building materials to help build communities.
